Session 1: Working Effectively With Indigenous Peoples® for Local Governments

2024 Virtual Leadership Series Indigenous Corporate Training

"Every non-Indigenous person in Canada, including new Canadians, corporations, organizations, small businesses, consultants, or professionals working with or wanting to do business with Indigenous communities, organizations or individuals will benefit from developing Indigenous awareness." Indigenous Corporate Training website.

  • May 21, 2024 - Indigenous Awareness  (9am - 12pm)
  • May 28, 2024 - Indigenous Relations for Local Governments (1pm - 4pm)

The fear of doing or saying the wrong thing can affect your relationship with Indigenous communities in a big way. This course was designed to help aid municipal employees specifically and to be a guide to fostering sustainable, long-term partnerships between municipal governments and Indigenous communities.

Session 2: Your Story Changes Everything

2024 Virtual Leadership Series Tellpeople

Your Story Changes Everything: How stories about yourself can build meaningful professional relationships.

  • May 28, 2024 (9:30am - 10:30am)

Chris Graham, Founder of TellPeople, will start the sesison with a simple question: If someone asked, “Why should I trust you?”, what would you say? Stories about yourself are an effective way to establish trust and build meaningful relationships with colleagues, peers, and stakeholders. After all—people form meaningful relationships with other people, not their work product. But what can you say about yourself? How can you share stories that showcase your values? Is it OK to be funny? Should you be vulnerable? This session answers these questions using the same tools used by successful TEDx speakers.
