Local government finance professionals must do more than balance budgets and manage resources, they must lead with vision and strategy.

The Strategic Financial Leadership program was designed specifically for local government finance professionals, with its development informed by insights from practitioners across the province. This program is more than an investment in yourself—it’s an investment in your organization, your community, and the broader network of municipal and regional district finance professionals in British Columbia.

The program features personalized coaching to support your individual leadership growth, and mentorship to strengthen your organization’s capacity. Coaching helps you gain clarity, confidence, and direction in your leadership journey. Mentorship bridges learning and organizational impact, aligning your development with your organization’s goals to ensure long-term value for both you and your team.

This is a hybrid program consisting of three in-person days and four virtual sessions. Participation in all components is required to receive the certificate of completion.

NOTES:

  • It is highly recommended that you register as early as possible to avoid this program being cancelled due to perceived lack of demand.
  • Credit cards will be automatically charged on September 19, 2025. Cheques and Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) need to be received by September 26, 2025.
  • Requests to cancel registration will be accepted until noon on September 26, 2025. No refunds after this date.
  • Program attendance is transferable to an alternate member of your team or to the next intake.
  • Last day for online registration is Monday, October 20, 2025. Contact the office if you are trying to register after this date. 
  • Please make sure to book your accommodation as soon as possible as spots fill up fast. 
  • A total of $8,500 has been allocated to this program from MFA's Sustaining Education Fund representing 15% of the total funding we receive to support the delivery of this prgram, demonstrating their ongoing committment to our work.
