The Learnings Behind the Data: Unpacking Results in Capital Planning and Delivery Through Discussion

Local governments across BC are navigating increasingly complex capital programs — balancing aging infrastructure, growth pressures, affordability, and limited organizational capacity. While many communities are strengthening their capital plans, delivering those plans as intended remains a shared challenge.

This facilitated focus group uses the results of the December Quarterly Question survey as a starting point for a deeper conversation — exploring what's working, where the gaps are, and what practitioners across BC are learning along the way.

Space is limited. To keep the conversation focused and ensure every participant can contribute meaningfully, this session is capped at a small group. If you're interested, we encourage you to register early.

What We Will Explore

The systems and practices that support effective capital prioritization — and how these differ across local government contexts
What contributes to the gap between strong plans on paper and projects delivered on the ground
Actions local governments have taken to improve capital delivery — what has worked, what hasn't, and why

Who Should Join

This session is for finance professionals, capital planners, and anyone involved in capital budgeting, asset management, or program delivery. Whether your organization consistently delivers most of its capital budget — or struggles to do so — your perspective is valuable.
