MEMBER RECOGNITION AWARDS

 The "Member Recognition Awards" will be presented at the GFOABC annual Conference in Victoria. To promote excellence in government service and government finance, GFOABC annually awards individuals who have made significant contributions in the area of local government finance. Awards are presented for outstanding performance and achievement as well as for innovative ideas that will benefit others in the field.

Nominations are currently being solicited and must be received before May 15, 2017. Candidates for Awards can be nominated for any of the following categories:

«    Life Member Award

The Life Member Award will be bestowed upon a member for significant contributions to local government. The Life Member distinction recognizes the member’s dedication throughout their career to the work of the GFOA, promoting education, peer support and networking to enhance professional skills within local government.  To be eligible for consideration for this award, a member must have a minimum of 10 years membership in GFOA.

«    Outstanding Performance/Achievement Award the Outstanding

Performance/Achievement Award is to recognize an achievement of a member by peers and possibly other organizations, as well as being acknowledged by GFOA as extraordinary and unique.  The achievement should be specific to the municipal sector.  The performance/achievement could be a contribution that advances the cause and mandate of the GFOA.

«    Innovative Idea Award

The Innovative Idea Award is to recognize originality/creativity of a program/project that has overall significance to local government.  The program/project should be a financial or technical advancement, improving a process significantly with proven cost/benefits and has garnered some form of recognition from the municipal sector.

Please provide a summary of the work and accomplishments that the member has done to earn the distinction of being recognized for an award(s).  The summary should be attached to the nomination form and submitted to the attention of Paul Macklem, Executive Director, GFOABC, 408 – 612 View Street, Victoria, BC V8W 1J5, or via e-mail execdir@gfoabc.ca.
